Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Bay bass are biting everything, especially shrimp looking grubs. They are also hitting reaction baits (cranks, spinners, etc..). 6-25' seem to be the best depths in both bays. With the hatch of new Bay Sharks, they seem to be on the small side while on the flats. Bigger models can be found near channel ledges below any bridge. Your choice of meat will work. Halibut are stil biting, but most have been running small. Try the flats near the mouth of SD Bay with live sardines, anchovies, or smelt, for bigger flatties. I did have one guy catch two keepers this past week, but we have released a ton of 13" models caught while bay bass fishing. Local kelp still holding good yellowtail, and some barracuda. The calicos are really taking topwater for those willing to put in the time. Sunset has been a great area for topwater calicos. Again, the paddies are the key for better yellowtail and dorado. That's what I'll be doing a lot of over the next few days per my customer's requests.
Get out there and enjoy our wonderful fishery.
