1-12-13 Islamorada offshore fishing in January

The past few days were definitely rough here while offshore fishing in Islamorada. We had strong SE breezes around 20 - 22 knots, but it did drop down to 15 knots today, making it a little better. A handful of boats got out on Thursday and Friday, and most the boats got out today. I'll give you a run down starting with today and what's been biting on our Islamorada Deep Sea Fishing Charters. Today the Catch 22 caught and released 5 sailfish, The BnM released 3 sailfish and also had 20 yellowtail snapper and 10 cero mackerel, The Predator, Reel McCoy, and Redfish each released 2 sailfish, The Finnster and Kalex each released 1 sail, and the Kalex also had a handful of big yellowtail snapper for dinner, The Gon Fishin V had some yellowtail snapper, a big 20 lb king, and a mutton snapper. The Miss Islamorada Party Fishing Boat has been doing great on yellowtail snapper this week with the dirty water (The wind stirred it up and the snappers bite best in that condition), but today they put a kite out and caught 2 bonus Sailfish!!! Yesterday The Catch 22 released 3 sailfish, The Bn'M released 2 sails and caught 30 yellowtail snapper, The Relentless released 1 sail, and the Cloud Nine released 3 sails. On the 10th there was a handful of sails around too and a couple straggling mahi, which are always a nice bonus this time of year since it really isn't season for them!

Sara, who works in the tackle shop, got out fishing with our friend Dave today and caught her first backcountry slam, including a snook, redfish, and trout! Great Job!
