2-21-13 Offshore Fishing Report for Islamorada in February

 | By Seamus on 2/20/2013 8:15:26 AM | Views (350)

Today was a beautiful day here while offshore fishing in Islamorada. The air and water temperatures both warmed up some and there was plenty of action to be had on our Florida Keys Fishing Charters. The last two days we have seen the sailfish bite pick up quite a bit from what it had been. There was more sailfish release flags flying today at the dock than most of the few weeks. The boats that were patient and put there time in had a few shots for the most part. The Relentless released 4 sailfish, the Redfish released 3 and had a few accidental mahi, the Catch 22 released 2 sailfish, and the Predator released 1. The Kalex had a limit of king mackerel, a decent mutton snapper, and a bucket full of yellowtail snapper. The Gon Fishin also had a bucket full of yellowtail snapper, a nice mutton, and a suprise 15 lb blackfin tuna. The Fearless had a limit of king mackerel and a nice cero mackerel for dinner. The Finnster and BnM both took 1/2 day reef fishing trips this morning and had a couple king mackerel and a limit of yellowtail / mangrove snapper. The Bn'M also found a school of cobia on the way home, releasing a couple short fish and then boating a fat 57.5 lber! Yesterday the Catch 22 focused on sailfish throughout the day and it paid off. They managed 6 releases throughout the day. The Gon Fishin also had 3 sailfish releases. The Bn'M had a mixture of fish including a couple amberjack, couple mutton and yellowtail snapper, then did a little shark fishing and released a 100 lb sandbar shark, a few king mackerel, and released a few barracuda. Overall there's been enough snapper to catch on the reef for dinner when you anchor down, and there's been a good bite of king mackerel, mostly in the 5 to 15 lb range but there's still a few big ones mixed in. There should be a few more cobia this week and hopefully the sailfish bite will remain steady. Book your Deep Sea Fishing Trip in Islamorada soon!
