Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
However, nymphing is always worth the effort as fish still have to continually eat even if there is no hatch and the weather is inclimate.
The usual suspects for this time of year: Little Green Stone, Caddis, October Caddis, PMDs, BWOs, Mahogany Dun, Midges, Kokanee Egg, Flesh Fly. Be careful wading…there are many fresh Kokanee redds !! Stepping on these will destroy the eggs. Look for redds in slower, shallow currents, with small pea-sized gravel, especially below riffles and islands. The fish move substrate around so look for “clean” circles free of river growth. Also look for basketball sized mound of gravel (referred to as “pillow”) with a small “pit,” or hole just upstream from pillow where fish moved the gravel to burry the eggs.
