Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Great time to be on The Met. We were spared most of the smoke that smothered Sisters for a few weeks. The air is crisp & clean.
The river has been fishing great. Still a tough place to fish but September is the time to be here. Not much has changed from last weeks report. The usual suspects of insects are on the menu: Golden Stone, PMD, BWO, Caddis, Yellow Sally, Green Sally, Midge, Fall Green Drake, Mahogany Dun, October Caddis, Cinygmula, Kokanee eggs.
Yes, the Kokanee are in the river. Try flesh flies for Bull Trout along with the usual assortment of rabbit fur streamers for the big guys. 7 wt. rod minimum.
Remember, approach every fishing spot independently. That is, each fishing spot you come to may have a different assortment of insects. Natural insect identification and fly selection skills will serve you well, especially when there are multiple insects hatching simultaneously.
