Fishing Report for Wed Aug 14th

 | By Seamus on 8/16/2013 7:30:50 PM | Views (123)

The wind turned toward the North today, so you ALL know what that means...
Fish!!
They had some good runs of decent-sized Spot on the incoming tide earlier today AND they got some on the outgoing tide as well! There have also been some pan-sized Croaker and a few Blues caught throughout the day (plus that little Pigfish we posted a photo of earlier in the day). They're using mostly Bloodworms, Bloodworm Fish Bites, and squid.

BRING A JACKET OR SWEATSHIRT!! It's windy and cool out there. You also may want to switch to a 3oz weight and the wind speed is around 10mph and the water is a little choppy, though not white-capping.

The tide will start in around 10:30/11pm and will be high at 3:45am.
The next INCOMING tides START at:
10:30/11am Thurs morning, 11:30pm/Midnight Thurs night, 11:30am/Noon Fri morning, and 12:30/1am overnight Fri/Sat.

Fish the RIGHT side of the pier on an OUTGOING TIDE.
Fish the LEFT side of the pier on an INCOMING TIDE.
They've been biting better around 3/4ths of the way down the pier.

Crabbing has been a bit slow, though no one is really sure why. Contributing factors may be the high water temps and the fact that we've had a lot of rain this year. They have been biting better at night than during the day, and the last few days have been biting better during a tide change instead of when the tide is coming in or going out. Rotten chicken is still the best bait to use.

We would like to encourage all of our facebook friends to post photos of the fish and crabs they catch on our wall. Everyone is always asking for pics, but unfortunately our staff doesn't always have time to take some.
