Estero Bay Fishing Has Been Outstanding!!

Estero Bay fishing has been outstanding this week and last! I have been focusing close to the passes on incoming tides to stay near the cleaner, cooler water. Bait of choice has been live pilchards, which can be found on the beaches, rigged on a 2/0 circle hook attached to 30lb fluorocarbon leader. There is very small bait all over the bay, so when you can get larger pilchards the fish will respond very well. Snook and Redfish has been the main target, but there has also been Jack Crevalle mixed in too. Trout are over the flats and to stay successful look for the large schools of small glass minnows, the trout won't be far from them. Look for the fishing to stay good all the way through September when the redfish start to school on the flats.
