Port Phillip snapper starting to pick up the pace

It seems that the 'official' snapper season has just about begun, with water temperatures in the bay being higher than that of last year - which has brought the bite on a bit earlier.

James from Unreel Fishing Charters has been getting a few customers on to some nice snapper out from Carrum. One of James' friends has also been getting amongst the reds, with this cracker of nearly 9kg being one of four fish taken around the tide change on Tuesday. Baits of pilchard and fresh salmon are working very well at the moment.
