Sizzling Saturday.....

Wow it's great to be back on the water!  Things were a little crazier than normal with everyone going on different ideas on how to get into the ocean and where to fish.  Honestly it's been so long since everyone had a chance to fish, there was quite a bit of recon going on.  I was pretty anxious to hear how things went and after talking to the first captain I wasn't very disappointed.  To start things off I heard from one of our captains who's been fishing over 40 years and usually doesn't disappoint.  Honestly he killed it today with an amazing 10 blackfin Tuna, 4 big yellowfin tuna, 25 gaffer sized dolphin, a sailfish, and a blue marlin estimated at over 400 pounds!  The next boat did a mixed trip that included some bottom fishing and had a dozen blackfin, dolphin, and some huge tilefish (including a 14 pound Tile!)  There wasn't any huge numbers of yellowfin Tuna but good amounts of blackfin and dolphin from about everyone.  Most of our guys found a way to make it out of the inlet this morning and were fishing over a pretty broad area today.  I talked to three captains from the fishing center fleet fishing out of here that ran all the way to hatteras to get out this morning.  Sounded like they had a good day of it though with some giant wahoo catches and dolphin.   The fishing was fantastic today but I expect tomorrow's catches to be even better now that everyone has had a chance to dial in on fish.  The warmer water holding yellowfin had moved moved out some causing a better blackfin bite today but big numbers of yellowfin are certainly right around the corner.

Nearshore they continued to do great with some really good catches.  There was some families fishing today and wanted to stay on the sound side and catch some good eating fish.  The grey trout, flounder, and sea mullet fishing is really outstanding right now and they caught limits on the morning and afternoon trips.  The opening of the sound rockfish season has been an added bonus for our sound guide.  He put a mother and her two girls on a pile of rockfish today bringing some really cute grins back to the dock.

We are fully booked for tomorrow two by some lucky anglers but still have some trips available next week.  Get on board while you can and call us at 1-800-367-4728 or visit us at www.fishpiratescove.com .
