Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Well the Everglades National Park is finally back open as of yesterday. We are very happy to report fishing can resume in the park waters for our october islamorada backcountry fishing. It was fantastic yesterday many guides reported good fishing. Capt. Perry Scuderi had some snook and redfish action in the morning. Both Capt. John Johansen and Capt. Rick Stanczyk had some snook action as well as some shots tarpon still in the backcountry waters. Plenty of trout and ladyfish to bend the rod in muds and some of the channel run-offs. We also had some big jacks around several of the island moats eating pilchards, with some good size mangrove snappers mixed in. The water looks very nice with light winds as of late providing for good fishing options. Early morning is still best with the heat of the afternoon slowing down things such as redfish and snook, but as things cool off that time of day can be just fine. Capt. John reported fishing the other evening locally around Islamorada and a good bite of lemon sharks biting near sunset. As we enter the fall, the everglades fishing can really heat up especially for drum, snook, and the like. Patch fishing today was also pretty good, lots of big mangrove snappers with a few hogfish, porgy, grouper, yellowtail, and other various things mixed in.
Capt. Rick Stanczyk
