Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
There have still been plenty of good snapper caught from the piers and shoreline of the Bay over the last week, especially with the wild weather. There have been a few rippers caught from the shore at Mordialloc and Sandringham, along with Port Melbourne and Williamstown. A strong Southwesterly wind can really fire the snapper up and during these conditions they can be caught in 3m of water, where they feed on upturned rocks for crabs and baitfish.
A few customers fished from Mordi pier during the week where they caught a couple of ripper snapper up to 5kg, using whole pillies on twin snelled rigs. Customer Josh also caught pinkies to 2kg from the pier during the week using pilchards, Josh found that the evening fished better for the snapper.
