There has been a steady stream of snapper throughout the Western channel in Westernport Bay, right up to the top near Warneet. Staff member Harley fished the lower section below Stony Point earlier in the week to land snapper to around 5.5kg. Harley also caught a few smaller fish, with scad working the best. Customer Zayne caught this lovely snapper of 5kg out from Stony in 18m of water. Zayne managed 4 nice fish from the area during the run out tide, with the most effective bait being pilchard with head off, and fixed to the hook using bait-mate to stop it from spinning in the current.
A bit further up the port Dan from Bentrods Fishing Adventures has been putting clients on to some nice snapper along with the odd gummy. Baits of fresh mullet and salmon have been doing the job in around 14m of water out from Lysaughts.
