Today the seas were very calm here while fishing in Islamorada. It was a pre frontal condition with light winds and lots of sunshine. We are waiting for the strongest cold front in two years here in the Florida Keys tonight. We had another cold front blow through last Friday, with cool temperatures and strong winds, and it sparked the sailfish bite the day of the front, but the bite was mediocre the following days. Hopefully this cold front will spark the sailfish bite up and it last for a while. Lately sailfish bite has been spread out, with about 1/2 the boats catching them and 1/2 the boats not. Today the Relentless was on the sails and they managed to catch and release 5! The King Mackerel have still been active on the reef and wrecks too! There's been some nice fish in the 15 - 25 lb range, as well as one giant king aboard the Kalex a few days ago that weighed an impressive 55 lbs! On the 3rd and 4th I was the guest Capt. for an episode of SFTV (Sport Fishing Television) with Host John Brownlee, and we managed to release 4 sailfish the first day and 2 the second day, we also had a few blackfin tuna. Look for the episode to air in March 2014. There has still been some really nice mutton snapper around, with quite a few fish brought in over 10 lbs. The Cloud Nine had a massive mutton that weighed in close to 20 lbs! The cobia should be following the rays more and more too, and a couple boats found some the past week here. There's been a couple blackfin tunas, some bonitos, a few sharks, and plenty of barracudas as well. The weather is supposed to improve Wednesday and for the rest of the week, so give us a call at 305 664 2461 and let us set you up for a great Islamorada Deep Sea Fishing Trip!
