Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Yesterday the fishing was excellent in the backcountry for january islamorada fishing. Capt. Rick Stanczyk went out fun fishing with his father Richard and office manager of BNM Steven Byrd. We caught pilchards in the morning which were found when the sun finally got up on the oceanside of Bud n Marys. We headed back to the east cape area where we fished some of the canals and creeks. The start of the incoming tide had a low water condition with a nice easy moving current which proved good. We worked our way through the creek and picked away at snook, getting a couple doubles here and there. We ended up with probably 10 snook, missing a few more, including a couple nice ones! We also caught 5 redfish and a black drum. On the way home when the water was high we hit some of the shorelines and caught another half dozen snook. Great day of winter fishing in the florida keys! Capt. Bob Reineman had Dave Peck and Vin Marro out around the flamingo area. They also reported good action with a handful of redfish, 7 snook, and a few other species. Capt. Dave also fished with Sara Michael that evening and they caught a nice bonefish! Capt. Jim Willcox today had an excellent day as well, the fish were going into 'feed mode' while the front approach. Consistent action throughout the day with redfish, snook, and black drum around flamingo. We have a major front coming in as I'm writing this. The water temps will be plummeting and fishing could get a little tough in the backcountry for a few days, however after the fish adjust it could be red hot once again for a bit. The offshore fishing can be very good for sails in this condition as well as the patch reefs if you can get out there in a small boat that's a good productive bet for florida keys january fishing!
Capt. Skip Nielsen also had a great day fishing offshore in the Foxy Lady bay boat. He had his wife Cyd and longtime friend Rick Pepper out sailfishing. They caught 6 of 7 sailfish on Fox Sportfishing Permit Trek Rods and Diablo 550 spinning reels. Way to go Capt. Skip!
