Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
The past few days have been some of the nicest weather days we have seen here while deep sea fishing in Islamorada this winter. The past few days there was a couple sails caught each day between the fleet. The boats that really focused on them and put their time in for them were getting a shot or two a day on average. However, the Reel McCoy had a great day today and released 5 sails, the Relentless had a couple as well. Hopefully when this wind picks up a little towards the weekend the sailfish bite will be more consistent among the fleet. While live baiting the edge of the reef and the wrecks there's been king mackerel caught every day, a handful of blackfin tuna, and a handful of wahoo. The bottom fishing has been a little tough on the yellowtails, but there's still been plenty to catch for to make for a nice dinner. There's still some mutton snapper each in the mix as well. We have also seen some cobia each day on the dock this week, but they take patience and you have to really look hard to find the rays with the fish behind them. There's been some grouper, barracuda, and sharks released as well. I managed to get out on a daytime swordfishing trip a couple days ago, and although we don't consider this prime time, we got one bite our and landed a nice 140 lb broadbill swordfish. Many fishing trips for gamefish are decided by one bite, you don't always get them, but it makes you appreciate it when you do! We also had some nice queen snapper while deep dropping from 10 - 16 lbs. I think we'll see some more sailfish here this weekend, as well as cobia and the other reef fish we have been seeing the past month. Give us a call at 305 664 2461 when you're ready to book a fishing trip and go have a great trip on the water!
