Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
While the weather may be starting to cool off, anglers fishing the Murray River up around the VIC/NSW border are still catching a few cod. Over the long weekend many anglers fished the river around Barmah, Yarrawonga and Echuca. A few anglers bait fishing caught the odd yellow belly in these areas as well.
Customer Ves fished the river around Yarrawonga over the weekend where he caught some nice cod, with the largest measuring 71cm. Ves found that baits of cheese were the most effective when fished on a Shogun straight shank baitholder hook and paternoster rig.
Customer Andrew fished from the boat in the Echuca region, using both bait and lures. Andrew caught cod up to 58cm trolling hardbodied lures, with one fish measuring 66cm that took a large yabby fished on a running sinker rig on the bottom.
