Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Things are busy here and the fishing has been good so we are very happy! It's been on the windy side so far in April, seems much of the usual march winds that we get are here now. Things have warmed back up from the late front we had 6 days ago or so. We had some decent post-frontal tarpon fishing around town as things did not get as cold as expected and the water stayed in the mid 70s. Capt. Bill Bassett had a couple nice fish one day right afterwards, and also a fish on fly when it was blowing 20+ out of the northwest. Capt. John Johansen had some nice tarpon around town on live mullet too. Capt. Skip Nielsen had some great fishing catching multiple tarpon around the bridges a couple days after the front too on live mullet with Kenny Russel and Jim Riske. Capt. Mark Hlis had Gary Bowden from the UK get his first tarpon sight fishing with bait. Since then the tarpon fishing has been a little off the last couple days. Not much tarpon action in the backcountry though today we caught a couple back there and Capt. Bill Basset got one as well. Capt. Ben Ekblom yesterday had a nice tarpon in the morning fishing locally around town and a couple big 'mud marlins'. I've been getting some tarpon around town the last few days though the bite has been slow just a couple bites a trip. We got a nice big fish last night, and a nice fish during the day too out of a double header that we had hooked. Capt. Mike Venezia had a couple nice fish last night fishing around the bridges. Capt. Chris Daly had some redfish and snook action in the backcountry plus nice juvenile goliath grouper around the islands. Capt. Jeff Beeler had a nice fish during the afternoon around islamorada. Some more fish should start to fill in here and that could happen any day. Late afternoon has had very low water around islamorada and looks like it could be productive fishing when the big schools of tarpon show up.
