We head a really nice day this morning- there was just a slight breeze and we had a cloud cover for the whole day. The rain showers stayed off to the north of us and it made for a very pleasant day of fishing. I had met Paul Genn and his fishing buddy Jim out at the Goffinsville Park as the sun was coming up and we made the short trip over to th...

The RI sportfishing community has been shocked and saddened by the unexpected passing of Steve Medeiros President and founder of the Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association (RISAA). RISAA was the voice of sport fishermen all across this state for decades and Steve Medeiros was the guy who made everything happen.  I've known Steve for decades...

Capt Dave reports great fishing on the Viking Starship. It was an all around good day with plenty of fish. We had tough conditions inshore and we couldn’t drift but offshore was better. We had smaller Porgies out there with a bunch of really nice ones as well as quality Jumbo SeaBass. The first place […]

As we hit mid September and cruise into the latter part of the silver season the coho fishing remains strong. Last weekend it seemed like numbers were dwindling and the catch rate was falling off. We were starting to think the end was in sight. This continued through Monday and then on Tuesday a whole [...] The post Fish Report 9-16-21 appeared fi...

The weather has been incredible for the last few weeks giving me the chance to fish a bunch of different areas. Flamingo as usual has been “Red Hot”. I took my good friend Doc and his kids Briana and D.J. to Flamingo. They had never been there or fished off a boat. It didn’t take long and they were reeling in Snook after Snook. D.J. caught a nice...

OFFSHORE- Another really nice looking forecast for the weekend! Time to take advantage of these conditions...fall/winter conditions are just around the corner. Dolphin fishing was good agin this week; with best reports continuing to come from out in the deep. 800-1200' of water seems to be a pretty good bet to look for the dolphin. Bonita strips sq...

Some of the thunderstorms hit us last night and there is a lot of water moving through the system this morning.  The West Branch at Hale Eddy is just under 2 000 cfs and is beginning to drop. The release is around 1 400 so the flow will drop a bit today but it will stay high.  […]

Hard to believe that August is past and taken half of September with it. Leaves are very much starting to turn  color here and even though the weather has stayed warm you can tell that cooler days are just around the corner. I have simply too busy to post to this blog for a long stretch. Not that it was not on my list and my intentions were good.

Capt Dave reports a fantastic day on the Viking Starship. We stayed up close to Block Island all day. The morning started out with tough conditions due to the fast drift.
