Striper fishing lit up yesterday. Lots of bait has moved in and stripers of all sizes are on them.  Fall fishing has really taken a turn for the better.  Yesterday I found big schools of bait along the oceanfront moving about a quarter of a mile off shore.  A fall run was underway as big flocks of birds were diving and fish were breaking for bait....

Capt Dave reports a pretty decent day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. We headed to the east right off the bat this morning and had some issues with the tide. That strong full moon tide was running hard and seemed to bring back in the small SeaBass as we had to pick through […]

This trip was a gift. The weather was warm like a summer’s day but with Labor Day two weeks behind us it felt better than usual. The mood on board was sweet and grateful. We found dolphins (Tamanend’s bottlenose) early and then spent time with two juvenile humpback whales within a few miles from shore. […]

Captain Carl reports another slower night on the Bass boat. We caught and released a couple GIANT Striped Bass in the 30-50 lb range and a few Blues showing definite signs of the Fall Run beginning. We are gonna give it another go tonight! The pool winner went to Doug Keller from Southampton NY.

Captain JR reports a much improved afternoon onboard the Viking Star. The change of tide turned the fluke bite on and we boated some beauties. We also had sea bass and porgies biting all trip keeping everyone busy at the rail. The first prize pool winner went to Eric Garcia from West Milford NY with […]

Capt Steven Sr. reports some nice action today on the Viking Starlite. Despite tough conditions with the wind off of Block Island the bites were plentiful. We saw a lot of small SeaBass and short Fluke but did find a good amount keeper SeaBass in the mix with only a couple Fluke to bring home. […]

Capt Dave reports another good day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. We decided to start off in a similar area as yesterday so we set offshore to the east. With windier conditions today we decided to drop anchor for our pick. The bite remained steady today on the SeaBass seeing some really large […]

Capt JR reports some action this morning on the Viking Star. With breezy conditions this morning we did not have the most favorable fishing. However we did see some action with decent size Seabass and Porgies. We bent rods on some small Fluke as well but unfortunately had no keepers. The pool winner went to […]

Captain JR reports a slight improvement in the local bass action. We had a few very nice stripers that were unfortunately much too big to keep. Also a few nice blues to bend the rods. Definitely not a slammer trip but a positive sign for the rapidly approaching fall run.

Here's one taken from the kayak last evening. There has been a big uptick in activity the last few days.  Fishing is improving.  Just maybe a fall run is underway.  We'll see if it continues. Here's what's been happening in the last few days: *Out in the kayak in the Bay I've landed 16 fish a combination of stripers and blues.  I saw a lot of bait...

Another trifecta trip (humpback whales minke whales and Tamanend’s bottlenose dolphins!   On this somber day in the back of our minds were the friends schoolmates neighbors first responders and the endless  work of volunteers clearing those hallowed grounds at the World Trade Center the Pentagon and Shanksville PA. On this day as a way […]

Captain JR reports a tougher trip onboard the Viking Star. We put some serious miles under the keel as we cased some water way down to the south end of our string…. However we only found a few yellow fin we loaded up on Mahi during our journey down there. We bailed out of the […]

I'm back in the kayak and it was a great move. Found the bait and found the fish. Landed good numbers of stripers and blues.

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We started out anchored east of the point and found large Porgies with Sea Bass mixed in. Once the tide ran hard we headed further east and had very good fishing but smaller Porgies. Anglers were pulling in double and triple headers. We got a […]

There are some bonito around but it is a hit or miss deal.  I landed this one yesterday from shore.  I'm being generous when I say the shore fishing here in RI is mediocre.  Compared to other years at this time it is way off. In the last three days/evenings of fishing for me I've landed a grand total of three schoolies and one small bonito.  The...

Capt Steven Sr reports a decent day on the Viking Starlite. The Block Island Fluke are still elusive but we did manage some keepers and a bunch of shorts. Sea Bass were abundant in all sizes. We will be sailing on Sunday for this trip. Look for additional trips to be added to the schedule […]

Capt Dave reports an excellent trip on the Viking Starship. We started out east of the lighthouse and had our best fishing of the day first thing. There were mostly large Porgies with keeper Sea Bass in the mix. When the tide started running hard we moved under the lighthouse and had great action with […]

Capt Dave reports the best fishing we have seen in awhile on the Viking Starship! It was a great day with size and action. There was a really good pick of all LARGE Porgies with mixed size Sea Bass to start. We fished one area all day getting in a few drifts when the tide […]

Capt Dave reports another pretty decent day of fishing today. We started off today just east of the lighthouse kind of in the area we left off yesterday we had some pretty good action here with mixed sizes of Porgies a handful of keeper SeaBass 3-4 keeper Fluke and some little Blue fish. We eventually […]

It was a beautiful crisp day to search for whales and dolphins. Although we originally planned to head offshore our plans were interrupted by a blow belonging to a juvenile humpback whale not far from shore beyond the lighthouse. While waiting for this individual to surface two additional blows were spotted and we were suddenly […]
