Crazy hot weather past few weeks and the water temp inshore is 90 degrees but that hasn’t shut off the bite for the juvenile tarpon. This week we’ve had multiple double ups hour long sessions […] The post RED HOT TARPON BITE! appeared first on Flat Bottom Charters.

OFFSHORE- Dolphin reports remained decent offshore this week. The depth continued to bounce around a bit but overall it was better out deep (800-1300' of water). A swell and some east winds should help push some dolphin in closer over the weekend. Trolling squid bonita strips and small ballyhoo remains a good bet for the dolphin. The moon is gettin...

The fishing is really good considering the heat index is 110 every day and the business side is slow. Flamingo Snook bite continues to be fun! Hurricane Debbie blew really hard just off the S.W. coast but the watercolor was really clean for last weekend FFT tournament. Plenty of Snook Tarpon and Redfish were caught the Trout were tough to find kee...

As a seasoned Captain fishing over 35 years off the coast of Fort Lauderdale you can say I’ve learned quite a bit about anglers and fishing down here. I want to talk a bit about the does and dont’s when chartering a boat and coming back to the dock feeling like you got your monies worth and with a crew that gave it their best trying to catch you n...

The second half of July got HOT and the fishing was still good with most trips being fun catch whatever is fun trips.  These are great trips because we can focus on the best fishing not necessarily a specific species.  My trips were with Scott then Ray and his friend Evan Tom Danny and his kids and I wrapped up the month with local regular clients...

OFFSHORE- Dolphin fishing picked up a bit this week with a handful of decent reports coming in from 500-800' of water. The dolphin for the most part seemed to be in smaller packs along scattered weed and floating debris and not in big schools. Small ballyhoo bonita strips and trolling squid have all been good choices for the dolphin. Wahoo fishing...

Tarpon hooked by James Kang on NLBN “SHEESH'“! The fishing is very dependable right now. I’m finding small Tarpon and lots of Snook to start my mornings. There’s an active Tarpon bite for the first couple hours and then we have to work them once the sun comes up. The Snook bite is all day for the most part some days better than others. This past 1...

OFFSHORE- Dolphin reports picked back up a bit this week. Fort the most part: The best dolphin reports came in 1000-1500' of water with the fish mainly being in small packs around birds and floating debris. No well defined weedlines instead it's a luck of the draw (or a well trained eye on the radar). Trolling small ballyhoo squid and bonita strips...

The first week of July was off to a hot start. The first week I was fishing with repeat client Ron and we fished in Biscayne Bay and Everglades National Park.  Ron had never fished the Everglades before and after we did so on day two he wanted to come back every day after that.  Admittedly the fishing was not on fire but we caught fish and Ron had...
