The year 2022 will go down in the record books as one of the best lunker trout years in recent history.  It may not have surpassed the “good ole’ days of the 60’s and 70’s” but I think we gave them a run. Just that we recorded so many trout longer than 20 inches compared […] The post January 10 2023 Fishing Report appeared first on Lilleys' Landin...

We’ve enjoyed a lot of down water this fall here on Lake Taneycomo.  And with the long cold spell in late October and into November Table Rock Lake has turned over. Now we’re benefiting from the great oxygenated water when the dam turbines are running.  We’re anticipating a very good winter trout fishing season. Fly […] The post December 1 2022 Fi...

During October we saw no generation for a large portion of the month. With an abnormally dry summer and fall season Table Rock’s elevation is setting at 909.58ft. The power pool for this time of the year is 917.00ft putting Table Rock almost 9ft below its normal seasonal depth.  We have measured some dissolved oxygen […] The post November 3 2022 F...

For this October we’re met with a “new normal” here on Lake Taneycomo.  The minimum flow we enjoyed for most of two months ceased — replaced by no flow.  Yes officials shut everything down on Wednesday Sept. 28 and it’s been off in the mornings and part of the afternoon ever since.  When the water […] The post October 1 2022 Fishing Report appeare...

It’s been a wild summer here on Lake Taneycomo.  Dozens and dozens of big rainbow and brown trout have been caught — and 95% released to be caught again!  That figure isn’t official but just my estimate of what I observe on the lake.   “Catching” in general has been good but our guides report it’s slowing […] The post September 3 2022 Fishing Repo...

Are we seeing the new “minimum flow” here on Lake Taneycomo?  Back in the mid 1990’s the Missouri Department of Conservation conducted tests to determine the ideal minimum flow for our lake.  It was in conjunction with the same tests the Arkansas Game and Fish did below Bull Shoals Dam on the White River.  Arkansas […] The post August 1 2022 Fishi...

Our skies have dried up now that it’s summer in the Ozarks and our lakes have somewhat stabilized.  Beaver Lake is still a bit high but Table Rock Lake is below its seasonal power pool so our generation is slow and consistent.  They’re running a little less than a full unit 24/7 which makes trout […] The post July 1 2022 Fishing Report appeared fi...

I don’t know where to start this report as far as the generation/flow. I usually include an educated guess on what officials may do with generation but I have no idea at this point. So all I can do it state the facts. Beaver Lake I think is about at 1 128 feet but there’s no […] The post June 2 2022 Fishing Report appeared first on Lilleys' Landin...

After almost a full of day of rain Monday I’m expecting the lakes above Lake Taneycomo to head upwards again.  Here’s a quick run down: Beaver Lake rose to 1 127.6 feet after rains last week.  Officials aren’t releasing much water.  It’s flood pool level is 1 130 feet so it doesn’t have far to go to […] The post May 3 2022 Fishing Report appeared...

Our report on generation patterns is an easy one although it may change very shortly.  Operators at the dam have been running two units of water — about 6 500 cubic feet of water per second — non stop for a week now.  But after about a two-inch rain Wednesday and Thursday the lakes are on […] The post April 1 2022 Fishing Report appeared first on...

Rain and cold have dominated many days this past month.  We’ve had snow ice sleet and rain all amounting to some sloppy weekends of travel and fishing here on Lake Taneycomo.  But the diehards stayed tough and enjoyed some great days fishing for trout (and crappie!) Generation has been nonstop since the first of February.  […] The post March 1 202...

these two lovebirds like to froze me today but had a great day on the water.

I usually start my fishing reports talking about generation and fishing conditions.  This dictates how we are fishing which is most important.  But I need to report on how catching has been this past month.  And to be honest there have been a lot of anglers who have been pretty frustrated with catching trout. Now […] The post February 1 2022 Fishi...

Our weather is the subject of national news this month  with our temperatures reaching the 60s and 70s most days.  And it’s been relatively dry with some rain in the forecast.  Our lakes are below power pool —  all three lakes.  And with the generation we’re seeing at least at Table Rock dam officials will […] The post December 16 Fishing Report a...

Lake Taneycomo generation patterns have not changed since my last fishing report.  Dam operators are leaving the water off most of the day most days until about anywhere from 1 – 4 p.m. when  2-3 units then run until dark.  On weekends though they are leaving it off until 5-6 p.m. and only running it […] The post October 24 Fishing Report appeared...

First for this fall our generation pattern has stayed pretty consistent.   We’re seeing water running every afternoon starting 2-3 p.m. and running until dark or after.  It seems the volume depends on the day’s high temperature.  The warmer it is the more water runs.  The range is one to three units or 3 500 to […] The post October 1st Fishing Rep...

Our generation schedule has settled down so that one can almost predict what will run on any given day except weekends.  During the week we’re seeing no generation in the mornings with water coming on about 1-2 p.m. and running until about 7 p.m..  And operators are running about 11 000 cubic feet per second of […] The post August 31st fishing rep...

Our generation schedule has been pretty consistent the last week or so.  No generation in the mornings then the water comes on about noon building to almost three units by mid afternoon.  Then it shuts down starting about 10 p.m. and on until the next day.  I don’t see the pattern changing because of lake […] The post July 31st fishing report appe...

Our lakes are still pretty high and as I type this report we’re getting new rounds of storms dumping as much as an inch of rain at a time.  More in the forecast all this week so I’m not sure where we’ll end up.  Dam operators have been running anywhere from one to two units […] The post June 28th fishing report appeared first on Lilleys' Landing R...

Our watershed continues to be the focal point of periodic rainfall and storm systems.  A heavy period of rain about a week ago caused operators to open five floodgates at one foot a piece accompanied by three turbines for a total release rate of approximately 15 000 cubic feet per second.  Officials have since shut three of the five […] The post J...
