Latest Fishing Reports

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last report.  At the beginning of last week water and fishing conditions had not changed at all so there was no need to update it.  But a big change happened midweek — the dam operators decided to shut the spill gates off plus a turbine. That left […] The post February 25 fishing report appeared first on Lilley...

I’m sure glad I didn’t write an extensive fishing report on Monday for Lake Taneycomo because everything changes today.  After more rain fell in the White River Basin above Lake Taneycomo in the past 24 hours the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have decided to open 5 spill gates at Table Rock Dam one foot […] The post February 5 fishing report appear...

Despite the constant flow of water — 15 000 cubic feet per second through three turbines and over six spill gates into Lake Taneycomo — trout fishing continues to be very good for most anglers.  That success still hinges on keeping your bait fly or lure on the bottom while drifting. First I wanted to clear up something I […] The post January 28 fi...

Turbines and flood gates continued to move water from Table Rock Lake into and through Lake Taneycomo this past week.  Rains Thursday and Friday kept the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from making any headway though.  Beaver Lake’s level rose slightly to 1 126.5 feet while Table Rock’s level remains at 919.1 feet.  Operators are running […] The post...

All the lakes in the White River Chain of Lakes are almost to their seasonal power pool levels but we have some rain forecast for the whole basin this weekend that might prolong generation below each dam.  Right now we’re looking at three to four inches Thursday through Saturday morning with some snow mixed in.  […] The post January 8 fishing repo...

Another week and —  another high water event on Lake Taneycomo.  Yes operators are running spill gates at the dam again.  We had three days of intermittent rain which in total equaled about three inches of rain for much of our watershed. That brought Beaver Lake up above its flood pool of 1 130 feet and triggered flood gates […] The post December...

Lake levels are down a bit not much but enough to trigger a change in flows at Beaver and Table Rock lakes.  Spill gates were shut and turbine operation was reduced.  Beaver is still high.  It’s at 1 128.4 feet eight feet above the seasonal power pool.  Table Rock dropped to 916.5 feet 1.5 feet above  […] The post December 10 fishing report appear...

Generation here on Lake Taneycomo has been very consistent the last four or five days now and with the lakes above us well above season pool levels we’re going to continue to see this flow for quite some time. Typically our lakes have been drawn down to at least power pool ready for the winter […] The post November 25 fishing report appeared first...

Just in… the spill gates were just closed today at Table Rock Dam after a week or more.  Table Rock’s level is just north of 917 feet dropping more than three feet from its high after the last rain event.  Beaver Lake is holding at 1 128.5 feet just a foot and a half below its […] The post November 18 fishing report appeared first on Lilleys' Land...

With the lakes above us approaching the “9’s” we all below Table Rock Dam on Lake Taneycomo are breathing a sign of relief at the end of yet another high water event.  Beaver has dropped about 18 inches from its crest of 1 130.5 feet to 1 129 and Table Rock is right at 919 feet.  Both […] The post November 12 Fishing Report appeared first on Lille...

Since Phil’s last report on October 15th we’ve had yet a few more changes to our water.  Gates closed shortly after and now they’re open yet again.  With more rain systems passing through with these last cold fronts lake levels have certainly not decreased.  Simply put weather has just been damp and cold. We’ve seen […] The post October 31 Fishing...

We’ve had big changes here on Lake Taneycomo the last few days.  We’ve gone from a constant flow of about 2 000 cubic feet per second since Sept. 1st to 11 000 c.f.s. with a couple of flood gates open all from one “little” rain we had Thursday night. It was one of those “toad soaker” rains […] The post October 15 fishing report appeared first on L...

Summer has stuck around late this fall (yes it has officially been autumn for a week now despite the 90-plus degree weather.) But we know the splendor of fall colors is just weeks away!  It looks like we’re in for a cool change this week. We’ve received a little heavy generation already this week I […] The post October 1st fishing report appeared...

Night crawlers are still king on Lake Taneycomo.  Brown worms and pink worms.  Real worms and rubber worms — our trout like ’em both. We’re still seeing non-stop generation 24/7 at 35-45 megawatts of power which translates to about 2 500 – 3 000 cubic feet a second of flow with a bump late in the afternoon […] The post September 23 fishing report...

Summer has decided to stick around a little longer this year.  Temperatures are in the 90’s again this week but being on Lake Taneycomo’s cold water makes it bearable.  The lake water is a cool 55 degrees and the dissolved oxygen content is holding at about seven parts per million which is very good for […] The post September 10 fishing report app...

Depending on which angler you talk to trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo has been pretty good lately.  One of our guides Bill Babler said his clients caught 77 trout during a four-hour trip yesterday using both the Berkley’s Pink Power Worm and night crawlers.  I’d say that’s pretty good “catching.” Our generation schedule has been […] The post Septe...

I usually start my fishing report by talking about the generation pattern which really dictates how we chose to fish at any given time. But there’s one thing that at least right now is more important if you want success in catching trout on Lake Taneycomo... and that’s line size. Our water […] The post August 6 Fishing Report appeared first on Lil...

There hasn’t been much change in generation and fishing patterns since my last fishing report for Lake Taneycomo.  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been turning on their turbines at noon every day and running water through the afternoon shutting it down about dark.  They’ve been running four units full during the week and […] The post August 1...

The good news is that the fishing has really picked up!  The bad news is that the White River is flooded and the lake is really on the rise.  Boat Launch off of K Hwy is almost under water.   Water Level – 662.4 and rising Water Temp 57 to 60 degrees Water is Clear […]
