The waters around Hatteras has cooled down some, but there are still some good bites going on. Offshore the boats have been catching Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, and Mahi. Sailfish continue to bite and reports of White Marlin and Blue Marlin are still around. The Wahoo seem to be getting bigger, with a 83 pounder caught over the weekend. Offshore bottom fishing has been producing limits of Gray Tilefish, Triggerfish, and Amberjacks.

Nearshore, the King Mackerel bite continues to improve and should get even better next month.

Inshore and from the surf, Bluefish and Red Drum continue to bite. There is also some Speckled Trout and Flounder being caught.

On Friday I caught a weird Filefish. It may be a Unicorn Leatherjacket. Anyone guess the species in the picture?

I also caught a Planehead Tilefish and a baby Yellow Cowfish.
