October 13th 2024 – What to expect for the rest of October fishing Key West is a pretty easy guess as we look at the extended forecast and realize that our summer patterns are giving way to the winter here in Key West. Where we have been gazing to the tropics daily wondering if we are going to get smashed by the next storm is being switched to Looking up North for the next low pressure cold front and Northerly winds. This will usher in cooler temps both air and sea as well as some pretty stiff breezes. Fishing Report Since the last storm Melton we have gotten offshore to a pretty decent bite of Kingfish on the reef and the occasional mahi out past the color change and bonito between. The water on the reef has been pretty banged up but the fish are very hungry on the reef. Chumming profusely was very helpful for the yellowtail bite. In the backcountry the waters cleaned up pretty quick and things are fish-able and only getting better.
