I would like to download this to my ipad. Is a second subscription required if I use my iPhone?
Does the app rely on Maps, Google Earth, or in App maps?

No, a second subscription is not required for your iPhone.
If you are using the KML or GPX file we provide, Google Earth is the option we recommend. iOS instructions are found here: https://fishingstatus.com/maps/instructions/ios

It has lots of features, including the ability to download files for whatever GPS unit you have.
