The HMS Empire Mica is a 431 feet long British tanker that was sunk by a German U-Boat in WWII on June 29, 1942. Empire Mica was full of aviation fuel and on the way to England and bound for the Royal Air Force. Two torpedoes from the U-Boat struck and caused additional explosions. The ship burned for a day as it drifted in the gulf, finally sinking in 105 ft. of water about 20 miles south of Cape San Blas and 64 miles from Panama City, Florida.
Bull Sharks, Barracuda, Greater Amberjack, Snapper, and Grouper are frequently seen on the wreck.
