Daytona Beach Fishing

Daytona Beach Fishing

Most people know Daytona Beach from its association with NASCAR and the Daytona 500. Beyond being one of the premier cities for motorsports in the United States, Daytona is also known for some great fishing. With plenty of flats fishing inshore, easy access to Ponce Inlet, plentiful nearshore and offshore reefs all the way out to the deep, Daytona fishing can be excellent year round.

The best catches for inshore Daytona Beach fishing include Redfish and Spotted Seatrout. These fish occupy the waters here all year, which means there is never an off-season. More than that, the populations are very well established. In other words, there are plenty of fully grown adults of each species. There is also Snook and Tarpon, as well as Bluefish, Flounder, Jacks, Mackerel, and many other species. Prime season for full-grown Tarpon is in the fall. During the autumn, Tarpon of all sizes flock to the warm waters just off the coast.

If you do go deep-sea fishing, you can enjoy the fish in the Gulf Stream. Common fish in this area range from Wahoo to Mahi-mahi. This is even a great destination for seasonal Tuna catches. With excellent Grouper, Snapper, and Tilefish on bottom and pelagic species and billfish on the continental shelf and structures in the Gulf Stream, Daytona offshore fishing can be great all year round.
