Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Sandy Hook is a barrier spit found on the north end of Jersey Shore that covers over 2,000 acres of beach. With hundreds of nearby shipwreck, artificial reefs, and lots of rocky structure, Sandy Hook is a favorite location for many fishermen.
Sandy Hook and Raritan Bay is probably best known for its excellent Blackfish (Tautog) and Striped Bass fishing. There is also good Bluefish, Cod, Fluke (Flounder), Gray Trout (Weakfish), Pollock, Whiting, and of course many species of Sharks.
While False Albacore are plentiful from the beaches all the way out to the canyons, there are also runs of Bluefin Tuna from nearshore to the deep. Closer to the canyons you will find Yellowfin and Big Eye tuna much of the year. A few billfish are caught in the summer months as well.
