Galveston Fishing Reports

Spring is officially here, and the fishing report for Galveston, Texas is the proof.  Water temperatures have reached upper 70’s and on the verge of breaking 80.  Bait fish in the bays and back lakes are thick.  Clients ask me "what is the best fishing right now?".  My answer is “take your pick!”  The back lakes and bays are full of redfish, and flounder are showing up already as well.  The jetties and beach front are still holding Bay Snapper, redfish and speckled trout are making their way in.  The Spanish Mackerel, pompano and sharks are here too.  The Big Drum run is tapering down, but being replaced with Bull Reds and sharks.  Offshore fishing is already heating up with king fish and cobia, and mahi are sure to follow.  We are already beginning to see beginning stages of weed lines, and this is crucial for a good mahi (dorado) filled summer.  The only thing that may be a bit slow is flounder gigging, which is expected this time of year with potential winds and spring showers.

The Fishing Report for the Galveston Jetty is amazing.  Bay Snapper are still being caught.  These great eating fish are in the final stages of their spawn.  Even after this annual spawning period, we will still catch ‘resident’ fish along the jetties throughout the summer on our Galveston Fishing Charters.  Red Fish are making their annual April appearance along the current driven areas of the North and South Jetty.  Speckled trout are strolling in for their summer time hunting grounds, and it will not be long before the surf runners show up as well.  Spanish mackerel, jack crevelle, and sharks are also here.  One of the most unique factors about fishing the Galveston Jetty is You Just Never Know what you may catch!  We are still using live shrimp freelined along the Galveston Jetty for the speckled trout, red fish, bay snapper, Spanish Mackerel, pompano and puppy drum.  Also, we are beginning to hook into some Galveston Sharks!  The Shark Fishing in Galveston is simply off the hook during the summer months, and this spring is shaping up excellent.

Galveston Fishing Reports

The Fishing Report for Galveston Bay and Marsh is superb.  There are allot of small redfish in these areas right now that are just under the legal Texas size limit, but great fun to catch take a photo, and release. Action packed fishing for Kids and adults alike.  We are also landing nice keeper size redfish and flounder as well.  Using live shrimp under a popping cork as well as live mullet when we can catch them.  If you are looking for a secluded fishing excursion, where the scenery is amazing, sea sickness is never a problem, and fishing is great – check out our Galveston Bay and Marsh Fishing Charters for a great family fishing trip in Galveston.

The Deep Sea Fishing Report for Galveston, Texas could not

Galveston Deep Sea Fishing

be much better for this time of year.  King Mackerel are already close to shore, cobia are present, and weed lines are forming.  The last trip we made on a Deep Sea Fishing Trip in Galveston, we caught Kings, Spanish Mackerel, Red Snapper and Cobia.  The Red Snapper Season for Galveston, Texas is going to be simply off the hook this year.  We went to one of our great snapper and king fish areas last week, and dropped to the bottom and hooked a 12 pound snapper.  As we were reeling up to the surface – the water turned red from all of the snapper following up!  This is amazing to see!  We are very excited about our Galveston Offshore Fishing Charters, and are already beginning to book for summer time.

This is an exciting time of year for a Fishing Guide in Galveston.  Great things are happening and even greater are on the horizon.  Give us a call for a fishing charter, night time flounder gigging, Kids Summer Fishing Camp, or a custom fishing excursion.  Our Galveston Family Friendly Fishing Guides are second to none!  Give us a call today 409-739-8526
