Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Ben went out for a quick ice check in front of the marina today, December 26, 2025, and found that last night's rain has left about a half-inch of standing water on the ice in most places. If you drill a hole, the surface water will likely drain into it, and conditions are currently very slippery, so please come prepared with ice cleats. While we haven’t lost much ice thickness yet, the surface is a little soft. Measurements still range from 8.5 to 12 inches, with 10 inches being the most common thickness.
There is more significant water pooling around permanent houses where the ice is sagging under the extra weight, so we strongly recommend checking on your house if it is already out there. At the very least, you should move it to "higher ice" and block it up, though moving it off the lake entirely for the time being is the safest option. If the snow and wind predicted for Sunday and Sunday night arrive, drifting around any remaining permanent houses could be substantial, further increasing the weight on the already sagging ice. We are hopeful that we avoid the snow so things can firm up consistently once the cold sets back in, and we will keep you updated as we learn more.
