The summer salmon fishing has entered July now on the Tay in Perthshire and catches have been hard to achieve so far. The boats are now back on the lower Tay at Stanley and below with high expectation after last years disappointing summer and autumn period.
Francis Jennings did not take long on his first day on the Pitlochrie beat to hook a summer salmon on the fly in Kirkie.
Nervous times prior to the fish being netted.
Success! A lovely fresh summer salmon landed carrying sea lice and pictured prior to release. Well done, hopefully one of many to come into the Tay and all the Scottish rivers over the next few weeks.
