Seasons Changing & Galveston Flounder Gigging

 | By Seamus on 1/25/2016 1:21:50 PM | Views (34)

This has been an exceptional summer of fishing here in Galveston.  We have caught hundreds of Giant Bull Reds, Sharks, Speckled Trout, Sheepshead, and about as many other saltwater species fish that exist in our Bay system.  One factor that stands out in my mind for this summer of fishing in Galveston is the size of the flounder that we are catching in the bayous and backlakes.

We still have the hottest part of the summer in front of us, and the Galveston Bull Redfish Run that we experience every September and October that will bring line screaming action to our Galveston Jetties as well as other areas along the channnel as the Gigantic Redfish devour everything in site as they make their 'Run'.

As the season changes, and we experience the first hint of cool northern air - I get excited knowing there is a Monster Flounder ready to break records that we look for on every single one of our Galveston Flounder Gigging Charters.  Actually I start seeing a change in the Flounder patterns at the end of August and it seems once the local high schools start hitting the football fields on Friday Nights..... It is Time to start hunting the Giant Galveston Flounder.  The marshes and bayous that are holding our flounder will begin to yield good numbers of flounder.  As soon as these marshes and bayous start flushing out the shrimp and shad that have been taking refuge thru the summer and enter into the bay... the flounder will be right behind them.  There is a reason the tradition of flounder gigging is still as strong as ever... The excitement of spotting a flounder hiding on a sand bottom, waiting to ambush its prey is second to none.  Hunting the shorelines, oyster reefs, and sand flats on a crisp autumn evening under a starlit sky is a Texas Tradition that we at Fishing Galveston Tx are keeping alive.  Families, Kids, or just a group of buddies looking for a great time and make memories to last a lifetime - book a Galveston Flounder Gigging Charter with us.  We guarantee you will be hooked!
