Week of May 30Thru June 6 2016

Yellow fin Tuna,Striped Marlin,Wahoo,Roosterfish,Sailfish,Dorado

Well there is no question the striped marlin are here and they are plentiful. There are some nice yellow fin tuna's, some bigger Dorado and some nice size Wahoo. We landed a 60 lb. Wahoo on Saturday June 4th. But the big news is the striped marlin. We entered the "Palagic Summer Slam" tournament this past weekend June 4th and 5th 2016. This was the third annual, and it was a lot of fun. On Saturday June 4th it all started with a 7:00 am shotgun start with lines out at 3:00 pm.

We headed out to the Sea of Cortez heading for 1150 spot. It truly was amazing to see all the Striped Marlin we saw cruising around the surface, we must have seen 35 of them but they just weren't biting. We did manage to bring 4 to the boat for the video of the release, so all in all a pretty good day of fishing.  Now bright and early off we go again on  Sunday June 5, 2016 and it was a whole new ballgame. We once again headed out to where we had been the day before and, guess what, the Striped Marlin were not cruising on the surface like they were on Saturday. So change the tactic a bit put out some real good teasers out and dropped our live bait down a couple of feet and before the end of the day we managed to bring 10 to the boat for release and the video shot, now that is a great day of fishing. If there is one thing about Sport Fishing in Cabo it is either good or it is great and that day was the latter for sure.

On one of our boats, the "Expresso", our angler Rodrigo Pidal Jr visiting us from Miami, won "Jr. Angler" in the two day tournament so congratulations goes out to him and his dad for a job well done.

All in all Team Picante had a great weekend and there were lots of happy anglers on our boats once again. As a matter of fact we had a great week here in Cabo San Lucas sport fishing.
