Capt. Rob Semkewyc of the Sea Hunter at Atlantic Highlands, said fluking was poor Saturday morning, but picked up that afternoon -- and was good the last two days. As long as he has a drift, results in the bay have been satisfactory, with pool fish from 4 to 6 pounds. Rick Bottelli of Laurance Harbor won today's pool with a 5.8-pound fluke.
Capt. Chris De Stefano of Wall received reports from Hudson Canyon today indicating the yellowfin tuna there were schoolies -- with not all being over the 27-inch minimum. Some white marlin were also reported further south.
Capt. John Brackett, of the Queen Mary from Point Pleasant, got into smaller blues on jigs today. Sunday's jigging produced five to ten blues for most, and there were some bigger choppers included. The Queen Mary has a Tuesday magic hours striper trip scheduled for 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. by reservation.
Early morning fog hindered those seeking bunker schools this morning.
