Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
October on The Met… Vine Maples and alders bursting with color, Kokanee in the River, Bull Trout lurking, and tremendous insect hatch activity.
We will begin to see some of the summer insects really begin to fade over the next few weeks with nighttime air temps in the 30s. Don’t worry, it’s a wonderful 65 - 70 degrees during the day with plenty of sun!
The Golden Stones, Yellow Sallies, and Green Drakes will begin to wane and by the end of the month, they will be gone til next year… so sad ! However, October caddis, BWOs, PMDs, Mahogany Duns, Caddis, Midges, Green Sallies are still around. Hatches continue to come off on a daily basis and dry fly fishing is still great, albeit challenging. With so many natural insects around, the fish can be (and often are) selective. Make sure you approach every fishing spot fresh and new. Hatch time and locations can vary. Insect identification will serve you well.
Kokanee are in the river and spawning. Please tread lightly and be keep a look out for redds while wading the river… help us ensure the future of these fish !
