Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Well the fishing has picked up a bit today for the backcountry and the boys offshore had a phenomenal day yesterday as well. Today we ran into the gulf and caught some big boys... i'm talking sharks. Lots of big mean bull sharks plus a few blacktips and a big lemon as well. We also caught 4 goliath grouper up to 250 lbs! We also caught a nice permit and a cobia, pulled the hook on another cobia, and had a few other permit shots though the fish were in a funny way not eating very good. The june backcountry fishing in islamorada has been tough the last week lots of icky green water and weed blown in with the southerly winds though today it laid out nice. Capt. Bill Bassett reported good shark action around flamingo and got a nice tarpon as well. Capt. Clyde Upchurch hung around Islamorada and got 3 tarpon fishing the in tide close to home, way to go! The boys offshore yesterday had a tailing condition for the sailfish and did well with them. Kalex had 13 sailfish and lots of yellowtail, Relentless had 12 sailfish and 40 schoolie dolphin, Pretty Work had a white marlin, 2 sailfish, and a box of mahi, cloud nine had a lot of mahi too plus several nice fish in the 20 lb range, and gon fishin v had limit of yellowtails and a dozen mahi in the afternoon. Great fishing in june in the florida keys. Catching sailfish in june in Islamorada is unusual though anything can happen out there, it is fishing!
