Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Well the november islamorada fishing in the backcountry is still pretty strong. Yesterday Capt. Chris Daly had a great day. He reported some nice size mangrove snappers, a handful of big gag groupers, a goilath grouper, a snook, and a couple small tarpon. A big variety for his anglers and some great dinner too! Capt. Bill Bassett fished the cheeca lodge tournament and placed 4th, congratulations to him. He had some good sight fishing for redfish and snook on day 1 of the tourney, though yesterday he said things were a little slower. Capt. Lonny Shaw was also in the tournament I did not hear how he made out in the standings, but I know they caught several bonefish and a permit yesterday in the wind and rain which is outstanding! Today fishing was decent for us we caught about 20 snook and 1 nice redfish pitching pilchards around the mangroves. Later in the day we lost a big snook, caught several mangrove snappers, and a handful of trout to end our fishing adventures. Capt. John Johansen also reported some good shark fishing action several days ago when it was blowing very hard, a ferocious lemon shark bite! Anything is possible still as the water temperatures are still fairly warm, it's been a little windy and some rain around - but sometimes that is a good recipe for fishing!
Capt. Rick Stanczyk
