Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
The wind has been howling again the last several days. We've had another minor front hit us though it isn't very cold yet. The temperatures have fallen nicely though into the lower 70s at times. The water temps are right there too which is good for the everglades backcountry fishing this time of year. Today it was overcast all day which seemed to help the bite. Capt. Rick Stanczyk reported good fishing they had close to 20 snook and 15 redfish, plus a mixed bag of other things. The snook have been eating the pilchards very well still, which have been plentiful on the ocean side as well as in the bay in certain areas. Capt. Mark Hlis several days ago got Mike from Colorado his first snook on fly pictured here. He's been having some good shots at fish on the fly when the weather has cooperated. Capt. Chris Daly also several days ago had a few nice snook, and a few more gag groupers. The fall/winter fishing in the everglades is good right now, if your looking to go fishing remember even when it is blowing 20+ mph there are plenty of fun options. Once your back in the everglades you can stay in protected water for the most part, and the fishing can be red hot!! November fishing in Islamorada is a blast!
