12-15-13 Mid December Offshore Fishing Report

 | By Seamus on 12/14/2013 3:40:05 PM | Views (124)

It's been a warm week here while in Islamorada Fishing. We do have a small cold front pushing through tonight which will change up the weather conditions and make the temperature very nice. The sailfish bite slowed down from the week before, but there has still been a few caught each day. The Relentless released 3 sails today and the Strictly Business released one for a junior angler, his first ever, who was participating in the Islamorada Junior Sailfish Tournament. The That's Right also released 1.  A few other boats put some time in today for them but they were spread out and hard earned, which was the case for the days prior as well. There has been some good bottom fishing the past week though with many boats getting in on the action. The boats have been catching lots of yellowtail snapper, with a handful of "flags" (big yellowtails over 2 lbs), a few nice mutton snapper up to 15 lbs, as well as some nice black and red grouper. The king mackerel have been showing up better each week as well, nothing huge but some decent fish. There's also been a few big sharks caught and released on the reef as well. Today the Catch 22 had a great day on a swordfishing charter, catching 3 broadbills. They weren't monsters, with the biggest being about 60 lbs. The next few days look like we'll have North to North east winds, which hopefully will spark the sailfish bite back up. If a Florida Keys Fishing Charter is something that interests you give us a call and let us set you up for a great trip! Call the marina office at 305 664 2461 and we'll find you a great boat.
