Guntersville FIshing Charter Guntersville fall fishing preview
It's football season!!! Guntersville is full of fat healthy bass that look like footballs. The fall is when the fun starts. This time of year huge schools of big, hungry bass roam nomadically following baitfish. When you pull up on the right hole at the right time it can be incredible. Last week I saw schools feeding with 30-100 bass in them. These fish are in an agressive mood and they are not as wary as springtime spawning fish. I average 30 fish landed per day year around but it's more like 40 in the fall. The best baits are spooks and crankbaits. Guntersville FIshing Charter August 9th Guntersville bass fishing report
Wow!!! What a day and thankfully I had a great consistent client in the boat when it happened. Yesterday we started out at daylight like always. From daylight until 10am we landed 30 with 4 big fish which is pretty much par for the course. At 10am I idled over a big crankbait hole and there were so many bass on it they started blowing up in my bubble trail. We got a bite every cast for 2 hours. When we landed number 100 my client said "I am exhausted let's go" and we did. I am not sure how many we could have caught but they were showing no signs of slowing down. The fishing is great and it will keep improving as temperatures drop. Go by gto and stock up on tackle. Guntersville FIshing Charter August 1st Guntersville fishing report
The next few months are going to be fun. There are 3 ways to approach guntersville at this time. Froggin/flippin,deep ledges and schooling fish. This last week I have caught some giants on Kermit but some days they just blow up and miss the frog while other days you can't take it away from them. The deep ledge bite will continue to be a factor for several more weeks and has been the best way to catch big ones since May. Now we have a 3rd option. Schooling fish can be exciting and challenging at the same time. I did a trip last week where we had over 100 bass on top feeding at the same time. Guntersville FIshing Charter July 20th Guntersville bass fishing report
School is in session!!! The days are getting shorter which triggers schooling action at guntersville. One day this week I saw a football field size school of bass on top feeding. As we move into August and September some days we will have the opportunity to catch 100 bass. If you like fast paced sometimes chaotic fishing this is your chance. Over the years I have been able to find enough schooling areas that I can usually keep us on feeding fish all day long. These fish are locked on shad so any fast moving shad imitating bait can be effective. Go by gto and stock up on tackle. Guntersville FIshing Charter July 14th Guntersville fishing report
It's hot out and so is the fishing at guntersville. In late summer most lakes get tough but guntersville keeps producing. In the little afternoon wildcat tournaments it's taking a 5lb average to be competitive. The stocking program has improved the fishing and the grass is as healthy as I have ever seen it. The ledge bite is the most consistent bite right now and a frog bite is coming on. You have to be versatile out there in the late summer. Yesterday I caught them on a big plug,a hair jig and a frog. I averaged 30 fish per day this week and the size was excellent with several fish around 5lbs. Go by gto and stock up on tackle. Guntersville FIshing Charter July 7th Guntersville bass fishing report
Ribbit,Ribbit!!! Ole Kermit is doing work on the big pond. This week a legitimate frog bite has emerged on the river bank and in the creeks above bb comer. The ledge bite is still very strong and is the dominant pattern. The best baits out deep are a hair jig and an 8xd crankbait. We have had several guide trips this week and the numbers are excellent as well as the size. We are averaging 40 fish a day and 5 pounders are showing up daily. As the days get shorter the fishing will get better and better. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter July 1st Guntersville fishing report
The weather is hot and so is the fishing at guntersville. With the warmer weather and air conditioners running the TVA is generating 35000 cfs and that has the bass feeding. This week we averaged 40 bass landed on 5 hour trips and the size was excellent. We had at or near 5@20lbs every day this week. The main river ledges is where most of the fish have positioned with water temps near 90 degrees. Spoons, hair jigs and big plugs are the best baits to get those schools active out deep. Don't let the hot weather keep you from catching fish. They are biting as good as they have all year. Go by gto or waterfront and stock up on tackle. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185 and I will take care of you.
Guntersville FIshing Charter June 23rd Guntersville fishing report
With the unseasonably cool temperatures and current flow the fishing is incredible. Yesterday we had 3 boats out and my boat landed 50 with a big fish at 5.5lbs,Mikes boat landed 28 with a big fish of 6.4 and Brandon's boat landed 55 with a big fish of 4.5lbs. Most of the fish have made there way to the main river ledge and crankbaits as well as hair jigs are our best producers. A frog bite is also starting to show up in areas with millfoil. My crappie guides are also enjoying the cooler temps and limiting out easily. Go by gto or waterfront and stock up on tackle.
