Guntersville FIshing Charter October 5th Guntersville bass fishing report
The frog bite is on at guntersville. We are getting about 20-30 blowups per day and the average size fish on Kermit is much bigger than any other technique at the moment. You need a big strong rod and a powerful high gear reel with 65lb test braid. There are a million different colors of frogs but I keep it simple. I primarily fish white or black frogs and sometimes natural green. You will need to find the thickest nastiest grass you can and listen for baitfish activity in the grass. Guntersville FIshing Charter September 19th Guntersville bass fishing report
Last week I guided a client from Chicago every day. We averaged 45 fish per day and he caught his personal best on Tuesday. We did manage to have 1 day with our best 5 over 20lbs. Most fish have now moved shallow and are feeding on shad. Our best baits were spinnerbaits and swimbaits fished around shallow grass. As the days get shorter and the temperatures fall the fishing will improve exponentially. If you are interested in a hiring a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com
Guntersville FIshing Charter August 30th Guntersville bass fishing report
Last week I had 5 guide trips at guntersville. We landed 240 bass total and had several nice fish. The fish are quickly moving into their fall pattern and the next 3 months are going to be spectacular. Twice we had 30-40 fish follow a hooked fish to the boat indicating how healthy the fishery is. There is a pretty good frog bite and some big fish are being caught flipping. As the weather cools more and more fish will move shallow and the fishing will keep improving. Guntersville FIshing Charter August 9th Guntersville fishing report.
The stocking program at guntersville is paying off with excellent catch rates year around. I had 4 guide trips last week and we caught fish every stop I made all week. There are still plenty of deep schools that will fire up early, late and when the current increases. A shallow bite is starting to materialize and it will be the dominant pattern by October. Our best baits have been jigs, crankbaits and spoons. We averaged 40 fish per day last week and had 5lbers each day. Guntersville FIshing Charter August 1st Guntersville bass fishing report
August brings shorter days and schooling fish. I personally love catching numbers of bass and at guntersville when you catch numbers your best 5 are always heavy. This is what I call the pre fall phase and the baitfish are starting to migrate towards the creeks with huge schools of bass roaming nearby. It's not uncommon for 50-100 bass to erupt on the surface at any moment. Last week I did 4 trips and we caught as many as 100 with our lowest total at 27. There is nothing more fun than seeing these fish chase on the surface and leading them perfectly with a bait knowing your about to get bit. Guntersville FIshing Charter July 24th Guntersville bass fishing report
This week the fishing started good and was spectacular by Friday. I guided everyday and we started the week catching 20-25 a day but Friday we caught 75. The rain allowed for more current flow and the fishing simply got better. River channel ledges continue to be the best pattern and I feel like about 60% of the big fish are still out deep but frogging and flipping is starting to become very productive. With the shorter days and cooling water the grass fishing will get better and better. If you are interested in hiring a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com
Guntersville FIshing Charter July 17th Guntersville bass fishing report
I had 3 guide trips last week and the fishing got better each day. We landed 73 bass total and had about 10 fish over 4 lbs. The water temp cooled off 2 degrees from 88 to 86 which doesn't sound like much but the fish became much more active with the cooler water.   The dominant pattern continues to be river channel ledges and the fishing is best early and late. Our best baits are crankbaits and football jigs in 12-19 feet. When you see these fish on the graph if they are suspended they usually don't bite well but if they are on the bottom they will usually bite quickly. Guntersville FIshing Charter July 8th Weiss lake bass fishing report
Weiss lake is Alabama's best kept bass fishing secret. Everybody knows it's full of crappie but it's also a phenomenal bass lake taking over 20lbs in 5 fish tournaments to win. This past week at daylight swimming a jig and a spinnerbait in the deeper water willow was an excellent way to get on the board with several quality largemouth. As the sun comes up that bite wanes and pitching to boathouses in the shaded area can produce good results with a small jig. The spotted bass can be found down in the powerhouse area on hard bottom offshore structure and they will bite a deep diving crankbait. Guntersville FIshing Charter July 1st Logan Martin fishing report
I guided at Logan Martin yesterday and my first objective is to always get a ledge bite going. Well that didn't happen. Thankfully we started the morning with a topwater and put a solid limit in the boat. The next pattern I checked was brushpiles and we were able to get a lot of bites doing that however we were unable to upgrade the fish we caught early. Then I started checking hard structure areas in about 5 feet with a dt6 and this really was the dominant pattern and we were able to upgrade our best 5 fish to around 14lbs.
