Guntersville FIshing Charter Christmas Eve Guntersville fishing report
Wow!!! What a year it has been. We have averaged over 30 bass landed per day in 2022 compared to 18 a day in 2017. That illustrates how guntersville is improving by leaps and bounds. The crappie fishing is also improving exponentially. My crappie guides are limiting out almost everyday.  It's a little chilly as I write this however the ten day forecast shows highs in the 60s and 70s everyday. A major warmup after a cold front always means phenomenal fishing. Call 256-744-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com to get booked for a trip with a USCG licensed captain.
Guntersville FIshing Charter December 15th Guntersville fishing report
Rain.Rain.Rain. It has been a wet December so far which is the best thing that could have happened for the fishing at guntersville. Tva is generating 79,000 cubic feet per second of current and the fish are feeding in predictable areas. Tuesday between 2 boats we had out 110 bass were landed. In the winter the bigger fish show up and the current has them biting. Our biggest fish landed this week was 7lbs but we had several that decided not to get in the boat. Bridges, boathouses and islands create natural current breaks that allow these fish to feed without expending large amounts of energy. Crankbaits and spinnerbaits have been our most productive baits. The crappie are in the brushpiles and my guides are catching a limit most days. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com
Guntersville FIshing Charter December 6th Guntersville fishing report
The unseasonably warm temperatures and rain have yielded excellent catch rates this past week. Our best baits have been jerkbaits and spoons. Most fish are in the 9-15 foot range and if you can find the bait you will find the bass. Last week my trips averaged 19 fish landed per day and we caught several big fish. If you want to catch a personal best the winter is a great opportunity to do so. The crappie fishing is excellent. My guides are limiting out everyday and the best patterns are creek ledges and brushpiles. We are using a 1/16 oz jig and a Bobby garland type plastic. Guntersville FIshing Charter November 30th Guntersville fishing report.
The bass fishing at guntersville this November was as good as I have ever seen it. Guntersville is a huge and dynamic lake and it's not easy but with the right adjustments we were able to consistently catch them. Shad imitating baits near the outside grass lines were the most productive but there also was a deep bite that produced well after the cold front. We landed from 19-40 bass per day and the quality was excellent. Crappie fishing this month was incredible. My guides limited everyday fishing brushpiles and creek channels. One of my clients landed a 3lb 11oz crappie. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com
Guntersville FIshing Charter Guntersville Thanksgiving fishing report
This last week has been one for the ages. A cold front grouped the fish up in small areas. When you find them it's unbelievable how many big fish are in one area. On tuesday we landed 30 bass and only one of them was under 3lbs. I had clients on a 2 day trip that landed 90. The best pattern has been outside grasslines and shellbeds in 9-12 feet of water. The crappie are also really starting to get active. We did 2 crappie trips this week and both trips kept atleast 45. The crappie are in the creek channels and they are biting Bobby garland type jigs on a 1/16 oz jighead.
Guntersville FIshing Charter November 18th Guntersville fishing report
Wintertime fishing at guntersville lake. This week we have seen the water temps drop into the 50s which has put these fish into their winter pattern. This is when guntersville lake really shines. I average 18-19 fish per day this time of year and the quality is the best of the year with fish averaging about 3.75lbs each with an excellent chance of catching a really big fish. Most anglers think in the cold weather you have to fish slow and deep. Wrong, these fish feed heavily all winter and they love fast moving baits in the shallows. The fishing pressure is 10% of what it is in the warmer months and this is your chance to catch a personal best. Guntersville FIshing Charter November Guntersville crappie fishing report
The crappie population at guntersville lake exploded when eel grass became the dominant vegetation. The eel grass doesn't die off in the winter like other grasses and it provides a haven for juvenile crappie to survive and flourish. My guides are catching 50-100 crappie on 5 hour trips and clients are keeping all they want. The best crappie fishing right now is in the brushpiles in about 15 feet of water. We are using 4lb test line on a 7 foot medium action rod with a 1/16 oz jig and a Bobby garland type grub. If you want to enjoy this great fishing and take home some fish call 256-744-5185 and I will book you with a USCG licensed guide.
