Welcome to Alaska, to Ketchikan, to fishing at it’s finest. Known as the salmon capital of the world, Ketchikan really is a world class fishing destination.  From the powerful King Salmon to the acrobatic Coho Salmon, Ketchikan has it all.  Pink and Chum salmon also roam our waters in great numbers.  Fishing for salmon in Ketchikan is typically done by trolling (dragging baits behind the boat).  Mooching, float fishing,  jigging, and casting can be done as well.  Salmon are strong fighting fish, and can be extremely aggressive, producing multiple hookups at the same time.  Salmon are fished with bait and an array of different lures.   Check out this video of a king being taken in Ketchikan with Capt. Ryan McRobert.

Ketchikan Halibut fishing has become more popular in the past few years.  With faster boats and better electronics, we can offer even our cruise ship passengers a chance to catch a monster!  Halibut are usually fished away from town and away from the crowds.  It takes a longer trip to effectively target them, and to give our guests a realistic chance to catch a halibut.  The Disney Wonder, Celebrity Infinity, Celebrity Millenium, Norwegian Star, Norwegian Pearl, and the Holland America Lines Zuiderdam are just some of the ships in port long enough to target halibut, or to take an extended salmon fishing trip with us!

Our new boat “OUTCAST” is ready to tackle her first season in Alaska.  She is a 2011 33′ Fish Rite Sea Storm.  Full specs are available under “The Boat” tab.  This video of Outcast shows a full walkthrough of the boat.

Please contact us if you would like to book or have any questions.  Don’t hesitate, dates are filling up fast!

My name is Ryan McRobert, and I operate Best Weigh Guide Service in Ketchikan, AK.

I grew up in a small country town in Oregon and always found myself on the water fishing at any chance possible, even if it meant skipping class to do so! I moved to Alaska to fulfill my dreams of fishing in 2000.

Recently I purchased my dream boat and can now provide up to 6 guests the experience of a lifetime fishing in Alaska!!

“Outcast” is a 33.5 foot charter vessel designed for Southeast Alaska. Outcast has a heated cabin, private bathroom, the latest in marine electronics from Garmin, and so much more. Refer to the “boat” page for more info.

Whether you come by cruise ship for a short stay, or wish to fly in for a week or more, we can make fishing in Ketchikan a reality for you! If your group is large and you need more than one boat, we can make that happen. I work with top captains who run up to date, well maintained vessels for your pleasure and safety.
