Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
The sun finally came out today and it was a beatiful day to be fishing in Islamorada. We had a few days of days of constant rain before this, with handful of boats fishing during the rainy weather. A couple boats had some good catches during the less than desirable conditions, including mahi, tuna, snapper, grouper, king mackerel, a couple sailfish and even a white marlin! The white marlin was caught while live bait tuna fishing on 15 lb spinning tackle with a pilchard! You just never know what is going to eat a live bait offshore of Islamorada! Today the fishing was a little difficult for some of the boats, while a few of the boats did well. The reef was the most consistent today, producing yellowtail and mutton snapper, a couple grouper, a few mackerel, and late in the afternoon some nice mahi showed up, with the Kalex catching some nice gaffers in the 10 - 15 lb range. Usually we target mahi further offshore, in the gulf stream, but in the Fall and early winter we see a handful around the edge of the reef. The couple boats that headed offshore struggled to find mahi and the tunas were on the humps, but they weren't as cooperative as the last few trips. There was a handful of blackfin tuna caught in the 5 - 12 lb range. I think the next few days the fishing will turn on and be more consistent like early last week, we just need a day or two for the conditions to settle in. I made it out on one daytime swordfishing charter and the sword bite continues to be great, we went 3 for 4 on broadbill swordfish. I think we will start seeing more and more sailfish the next couple weeks and more boats will start focusing on just the reef here soon. Let us know when you're ready to go on your islamorada fishing trip and we'll find you a great boat! 305 664 2461.

Islamorada is one of the few places you could release a white marlin and catch snapper and grouper for dinner!
Sailfish release on the Strictly business (always best to leave them in the water for a pic)
