Pictured is Mary Beth Scott with guide Bill Luney. Mary Beth's beautiful walleye was 26 inches, definitely worthy of her happy smile.

Guide report:

Walleye fishing has been great; due to the hot weather, they are being found on humps in 18 - 26 feet of water. White and pink jigs have been the "hot colors". Muskie fishing has been very active as well (see last weeks blog for an impressive list of those caught); they are being found on rock piles using bucktails #6-8 blades in gold with silver. Northern pike are along rocky shorelines and Mepps and spinner baits are producing big fish. Bass are on rock piles, crawfish colors of crank baits are working well.

Some of the nice fish being caught are:

Duane Kaiser (Bemidji, MN), a 25 ¼ inch walleye

Dave Hengel (Bemidji, MN), a 25 inch walleye and 17 inch smallmouth bass

Jim Fankhanel (Bemidji, MN), a 24 ½ inch walleye

Chuck Lindner (Warroad, MN), a 24 inch walleye

Jim Golden (Bemidji, MN), a 22 ½ inch walleye and 32 inch northern

Tracy Pogue (Bemidji, MN), a 32 inch northern

Dave Schultz (Bemidji, MN), a 21 ½ inch walleye

Duane Kaiser (Bemidji, MN), 17 walleyes caught in one afternoon, with ½ being greater than 18 inches

Brent Malcom (Edina, MN), a 27 inch walleye

John Baeyen (Burnsville, MN), 26 ½ and 22 inch walleyes

Bill Malcom (Watertown, SD), a 25 inch walleye

Jake Wiesner (Omro, WI), a 25 ½ inch walleye and 38 inch muskie

7 year old Elliott Bair (Urbandale, IA), a 16 inch walleye

Mike Flynn (Hillsboro, OR), 37 and 35 inch northern pike and 43 and 37 inch muskies

Willie Malcom (Edina, MN), a 16 inch smallmouth bass

Ted Bair (Urbandale, IA), a 48-50 inch muskie (estimated by guide Bill) caught on a jig and a minnow; they have amazing video of it coming in and jumping completely out of the water before breaking the line.
