Fishing Report 11/19

Hey All,

We finally made it out a couple days last week, after high winds and seas kept us tied to the dock. We had an 8 hour trip on Sunday, as well as a tilefish trip on Monday. Sunday we still had a left over swell from the wind the past week, and I noticed the water temperature had dropped 5-6 degrees. Not good for inshore sea bassin…First couple spots were ok; definitely not like the bite we had a couple weeks ago. Dog sharks chased us off a couple other spots, than we ended the day with a pretty decent pick for an hour or so. Monday we headed out to do some tile fishing. The plan was to try for blueline tilefish, which we rarely target, and then move off and catch some golden tilefish. Bluelines are caught much shallower than goldens, and are also mixed with sea bass. We drifted over some natural bottom and caught some nice bluelines up to 12lbs. There were lots of small sea bass, with the occasional jumbo in the mix. We than moved off to the canyon edge and made a few drifts for golden tilefish. With a strong current, and tough drifting conditions making it almost impossible to hold bottom we decided to head back inshore and catch a few more bass. Monday’s trip was somewhat of a disappointment, with the lack of goldens and jumbo sea bass, but I expect the offshore seabass bite to improve in the coming weeks as these fish are just beginning to migrate offshore. We will be sailing Friday-Monday, weather permitting. Check out our website for trip specifics….I will adding 18hr seabass/tile trips to the schedule in December. Please call 410-458-8343 for more information and reservations. Thanks and hope to see you soon…
