April starting off with a BANG! 4-2-14

Our first trip in the month of April turned out to be one of the best days yet. The weather was looking clear and the seas promised a flat smooth ride. We left the dock around 6:00 AM and headed dead east for about 28 miles to a spot that my mate marked the day before on another boat. Once we were set up it didn't take long to get our first bite. While the other 2 people on the boat were trying for sea bass and triggers I dropped a livey just to see whats down there. I wasn't getting a hit till I cranked up about 10 turns off the bottom. Soon as I did that the rod about ripped out from my hand. After a good 30 minutes of fighting we started seeing color. It was a 40+ lbs black belly grouper. That was in the first 20 minutes after we got to our spot. After that it was black bass, after trigger, after red snapper. We had both fish boxes filled by 12:30. We ended the day with14 giant red snapper (released). 8 red grouper ( released). One 40 lbs black belly grouper ( released). 20 triggers, 18 sea bass, one mutton, 2 cobia and 4 jacks. Hell of a day. We are getting to crunch time. Time to book a charter.
