Hatteras Fishing Report for April 1 - 3

 | By xfernal on 4/3/2014 12:00:00 AM | Views (3206)

The good news this week is the first Blue Marlin of the year was hooked. The bad news is the Bluefin have pushed North after the warm front has moved through. However, the offshore fleet has been catching a few gaffer dolphin and  lots of triggerfish this week. There have also been catches of amberjack, snowy grouper, beeliners, and tilefish. A 54# cobia was caught offshore on Tuna Duck today.

I talked with Captain Aaron from Tightline today, and he said he has been catching lots of nice red drum inshore. Gold spoons have been producing most of the bites and are a lot of fun on light tackle. With reports of some big drum coming off the beaches in Ocracoke, we should see some big fish on our beaches any day now.
