Guntersville FIshing Charter April 14th Weiss lake fishing report
The shad spawn is in full effect with the warming temperatures and the full moon approaching. At daylight fast moving shad imitating baits can provide incredible fishing and if you have cloudy weather that action can last for hours. When the sun comes up the best pattern is flipping a jig or soft plastic bait around hard cover. Most of the fish are prespawn but many have moved into the spawning areas and around the beds. My guide trip yesterday at Weiss we landed 15 quality fish with our best 5@ 18lbs. We also had several more opportunities to increase those numbers. This week we have had varying weather and fishing conditions each day. The fish at guntersville are extremely sensitive to weather changes and fishing pressure. We were able to adapt to the conditions each day and were able to average around 20 fish a day. The biggest fish landed this week was 6.5 lbs but we had some opportunities at much bigger fish. We now have fish in all 3 phases and this is the time of year where you really have to figure them out daily. As we get more consistent weather the fishing will continue to improve. Guntersville FIshing Charter Guntersville bass fishing report for April 2nd
We are finally seeing consistent warm temperatures and the fishing is getting better every day. I did 4 guide trips this week and we landed over 100 bass total. The biggest fish landed was 7lbs and we caught several 4 and 5lbers. The new moon phase has put a group of fish on bed and the full moon will prompt a huge group to spawn. On some days fast moving baits produced best and other days bottom baits were better. The fish are moving rapidly and keeping an open mind and making smart decisions is vital. This week was all about adjustments and fishing the conditions. Wind kept us off the main lake a couple of days which made it challenging but we were able to catch them every day. The fish are moving shallow and everyday a different bait or different pattern produces the best catches. We have landed 2 over 9lbs so far this year and tons of fish over 5lbs. The first half of March at guntersville has been spectacular. As usual this time of year adjusting to the conditions is very important but with the right adjustments it can be outstanding fishing. This last week I had a client catch his personal best only a few ounces shy of 10 pounds. Yesterday we landed 31 and had a best 5 fish at 29lbs. We also had 10 fish over 4lbs. Making the correct changes and staying ahead of the game is the key. If you fish like you did yesterday it's going to be a long day. The fish are in all 3 phases and moving daily. In Saturday's college event it took 29lbs 12oz to win and 23lbs 8oz to get a check. I have been seeing signs of this lake getting back to the glory days and now it's here. The lake is full of grass and the tigerbass stocking program is paying dividends. This last week the fish made a significant move but when we got in the right depth zone it was every cast. With the warming weather a large group of fish has moved shallow and the fishing is extremely good right now. The first day of the Toyota series event 72nd place was 15lbs. Those weights are very impressive and will only get better for the next several months as the weather stabilizes. My February trips we have caught 12-20 fish per day with the average fish being over 3lbs. With March approaching we should see some of the best fishing of the year with multiple techniques factoring in. Rain and current mean phenomenal fishing at Guntersville. This past week my guide trips were highly successful. One client landed 5 fish over 4lbs by himself. The thesis was fishing current breaks and keep moving until you find an active school. A lot of anglers are struggling right now which I can't really understand but Guntersville is a huge lake that can be overwhelming. We have fished strictly movement baits this week in bright colors that can be detected in the dirty water. I always want to throw something a fish can see.
