Guntersville FIshing Charter February 9th Guntersville fishing report
Wow guntersville showed out this weekend. The battle of the brands tournament took 24 pounds to win. There were 10 bags over 20 pounds and 23 over 18 pounds. When the weather gets more consistent the fishing will really get good. I expect a big group of spawners to move up on the next full moon and after that it's going to be fun for months. I had 4 guide trips this week and the size continues to be phenomenal with the quantity around 15 per day. By March I expect the number of bites to triple and we should be catching 25-50 per day for the rest of the year. Currently my best pattern is prespawn staging areas in 7-9 feet and the best bait is a jerkbait. My crappie guides are limiting out on big crappie everyday now. If you want to fish with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter February 3rd Guntersville fishing report.
Tournament season is upon us and it's setting up to be a slugfest this year on guntersville. If you need help understanding this vast and complex fishery for your next tournament call me and I will point you in the right direction. Trust me the guys that are winning tournaments are getting some type of help. The fish are set up on one cast deals offshore and guntersville is simply overwhelming to even the best anglers. This week we have landed an average of 14 keepers per day and the size this time of year is excellent with the average fish about 4lbs. My crappie guides are limiting most days and as the fish set up on their prespawn areas it's going to be every cast. If you want to fish with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185. Our most popular product is a 5 hour trip for 2 people that is $375.
Guntersville FIshing Charter January 28th Guntersville bass fishing report.
2023 is looking like it's going to be a phenomenal year at guntersville. There is an abnormally large group of fish in the lake over 5 pounds. On some of my best places I can count several large bass on the graph at all times. This week I did 3 guide trips and we averaged 19 fish landed per day. Our best 5 fish was over 18lbs each day and my customer landed a 7 pounder Tuesday off the same exact spot we caught an 11 pounder last week. Best depths continue to be 7-12 feet and the best baits are Arigs and jerkbaits. My crappie guides are limiting out most days tightlining a jig near wood structure 12-19 feet deep. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter January 22nd Guntersville crappie fishing report
The crappie are moving into their prespawn phase at the moment. Limits of crappie are being caught near the bridges which create a natural current break and feeding opportunity. Big groups of crappie are starting to show up around the brushpiles and in the stumps that are 12-19 feet deep. The best technique is casting and tight lining a 1/16 oz jighead and grub to the cover. Monkey milk and chartreuse/white are the best colors at the moment. My guides are catching a limit on 5 hour trips and the fishing will continue to improve. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter January 14th Guntersville fishing report
This is the year we have been waiting on. Guntersville has been full of 3-5 pounders the last couple of years but early 2023 fish catches are suggesting we have an abnormally large group of fish over 5lbs this year. I did 3 guide trips last week and we averaged 25 fish per day as well as setting the bar for big fish this year at 11lbs. The bass are prespawn on points and humps out from the spawning areas. 8-12 feet is the best depth and jerkbaits and crankbaits have been yielding the most bites. The crappie are also setting up in the brushpiles and my guides are limiting out on most days. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com
Guntersville FIshing Charter January 7th Guntersville fishing report.
Current is the key to excellent fishing on the tennesee river and we have plenty of it right now. As the week has progressed the fishing has gotten more consistent and the catch rate has improved. I have 3 main areas that have been producing plenty of bites and every 4th or 5th fish is a big one. The bass are transitioning from winter areas to prespawn and it should get better and better. The best depth is 9-12 feet and Alabama rigs as well as jerkbaits are the best producers. The crappie are also transitioning into prespawn and my crappie guides are catching a limit most days. The crappie are headed to our brushpiles and we can catch as many as you want from now until mid summer. Call 255-744-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com to fish with a USCG licensed guide.
Guntersville FIshing Charter New Year’s Day guntersville fishing report
Wow!!! If this is an indication of what to expect in 2023 guntersville is going to be spectacular. It was 72 degrees and we caught them on every stop. A short 5 hour trip yielded about 20 bass mostly nice 3-4 lbers. The lake is the healthiest I have ever seen it and the bass population is incredible. The forecast is for mild weather and I expect the bite to get better and better. Most of our fish came out of 9-12 feet on jerkbaits and a jig. My crappie guides limited on most trips in 2022 and I fully expect it to be even better in 2023. If you are interested in a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com
Guntersville FIshing Charter Christmas Eve Guntersville fishing report
Wow!!! What a year it has been. We have averaged over 30 bass landed per day in 2022 compared to 18 a day in 2017. That illustrates how guntersville is improving by leaps and bounds. The crappie fishing is also improving exponentially. My crappie guides are limiting out almost everyday.  It's a little chilly as I write this however the ten day forecast shows highs in the 60s and 70s everyday. A major warmup after a cold front always means phenomenal fishing. Call 256-744-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com to get booked for a trip with a USCG licensed captain.
Guntersville FIshing Charter December 15th Guntersville fishing report
Rain.Rain.Rain. It has been a wet December so far which is the best thing that could have happened for the fishing at guntersville. Tva is generating 79,000 cubic feet per second of current and the fish are feeding in predictable areas. Tuesday between 2 boats we had out 110 bass were landed. In the winter the bigger fish show up and the current has them biting. Our biggest fish landed this week was 7lbs but we had several that decided not to get in the boat. Bridges, boathouses and islands create natural current breaks that allow these fish to feed without expending large amounts of energy. Crankbaits and spinnerbaits have been our most productive baits. The crappie are in the brushpiles and my guides are catching a limit most days. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com
Guntersville FIshing Charter December 6th Guntersville fishing report
The unseasonably warm temperatures and rain have yielded excellent catch rates this past week. Our best baits have been jerkbaits and spoons. Most fish are in the 9-15 foot range and if you can find the bait you will find the bass. Last week my trips averaged 19 fish landed per day and we caught several big fish. If you want to catch a personal best the winter is a great opportunity to do so. The crappie fishing is excellent. My guides are limiting out everyday and the best patterns are creek ledges and brushpiles. We are using a 1/16 oz jig and a Bobby garland type plastic.
