Guntersville FIshing Charter June 2nd Guntersville bass fishing report
Ledge season is now in full swing as massive schools have moved offshore to feed up after the spawn. We are averaging the best numbers since fall about 40 fish per half day trip. We are also catching tons of 3-4lb fish and some over 5. What you need to look for this time of year is an irregularity on the main river ledge that can hold bait and bass. The best baits for summertime fishing on the tva are crankbaits, jigs and swimbaits. It can be grueling at times hunting these offshore fish but when you find them it's worth it. Finally we have some good current flowing out on the tennesee river. It has been dry the last month and the water had gotten stagnant but recent rains have caused tva to generate quite a bit of current and it has positioned the fish in predictable areas. Big schools of fish have moved to the river ledges and with this water movement they are set up where they should be and we have been catching about 40 per day with our best 5 over 19lbs everyday. The best baits are crankbaits and big spoons fished near structure. If you are interested in a guide trip with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185 or go to www.shaneellisfishing.com
Guntersville FIshing Charter May 21st Guntersville bass fishing report
SPECTACULAR. This week at guntersville has been simply spectacular. I guided everyday and we caught them basically every cast everyday. We landed over 200 this week and caught tons of fish in the 3-5lb class. The best pattern has been river channel ledges with crankbaits and a hair jig. We also sent another large group of F1 bass fingerlings out with the tournament anglers this week to further strengthen the genetics and population in our amazing lake. Last years stocked bass already weigh over 2lbs so by next year they will be over 4lbs at 2 years old. Guntersville FIshing Charter May 14th Guntersville bass fishing report
Guntersville is absolutely spectacular right now. Day 1 of the MLF pro series 95th place was 14lbs and over 25lbs was leading. Common sentiment from the tournament anglers is Guntersville is the best largemouth bass fishery in the world only rivaled by the smallmouth fishing at Champlain. I firmly believe that this is just the beginning of some of the best fishing the world has ever seen. You can catch them from 1 foot to 40 feet and on any bait in the box. Is it easy? No but with a concise plan and hard work success is imminent. We have landed about 30 per day this week and have had fish over 4lbs each day. Guntersville FIshing Charter May 5th Logan Martin bass fishing report
Wow what a lake. We landed 50 today and got bit on every stop. At daylight there is a major shad spawn and we had fish blowing up all around us. We caught them on a spook, spinnerbait and jerkbait. Then when the sun got bright we were able to catch quite a few fish on plastics and jigs. When Alabama power got some current rolling the fish stacked up on points and current breaks and crankbaits were the main deal. Our best 5 fish was about 14lbs and it was all spotted bass. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 28th Guntersville bass fishing report
This is one of my favorite times of the year. A big group of fish spawned on the full moon and they are migrating towards their post spawn staging areas and some are moving into their summer areas. Bream are on bed and shad are spawning. This makes for excellent fishing opportunities when you can get dialed in on a school of fish. I have been guiding everyday this week and our average daily catch is 30 fish and we are seeing some excellent size also. Tuesday morning I had a half day trip and we caught 47 with a best 5 well over 20lbs. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 21st Guntersville bass fishing report
Now it's getting fun out there. The fish are in all 3 phases and can be found in 18 inches out to 18 feet. You can catch them on any bait in your box as long as you find the right group of fish and present the bait to them at the correct time of day. Is it easy? No. However if you work at it and have a concise and dynamic plan this time of year your chances for success are good. This last week I have had trips everyday and we are catching 15-40 fish per day. Most days our best 5 fish are 16-21 lbs. I have a fly fishing client that has been catching 15 a day himself. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 14th Weiss lake fishing report
The shad spawn is in full effect with the warming temperatures and the full moon approaching. At daylight fast moving shad imitating baits can provide incredible fishing and if you have cloudy weather that action can last for hours. When the sun comes up the best pattern is flipping a jig or soft plastic bait around hard cover. Most of the fish are prespawn but many have moved into the spawning areas and around the beds. My guide trip yesterday at Weiss we landed 15 quality fish with our best 5@ 18lbs. We also had several more opportunities to increase those numbers. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 12th Guntersville fishing report
This week we have had varying weather and fishing conditions each day. The fish at guntersville are extremely sensitive to weather changes and fishing pressure. We were able to adapt to the conditions each day and were able to average around 20 fish a day. The biggest fish landed this week was 6.5 lbs but we had some opportunities at much bigger fish. We now have fish in all 3 phases and this is the time of year where you really have to figure them out daily. As we get more consistent weather the fishing will continue to improve. Guntersville FIshing Charter Guntersville bass fishing report for April 2nd
We are finally seeing consistent warm temperatures and the fishing is getting better every day. I did 4 guide trips this week and we landed over 100 bass total. The biggest fish landed was 7lbs and we caught several 4 and 5lbers. The new moon phase has put a group of fish on bed and the full moon will prompt a huge group to spawn. On some days fast moving baits produced best and other days bottom baits were better. The fish are moving rapidly and keeping an open mind and making smart decisions is vital.
